Dr. David Sterling Brown–a “brilliantly bold,” innovative Shakespeare and Critical Race Studies scholar–is an award-winning tenured Associate Professor of English at Trinity College (Connecticut), his beloved undergraduate alma mater. He is the author of the “groundbreaking” study Shakespeare’s White Others (Cambridge University Press 2023), which was acquired by Tantor Media and released in 2024 as an audiobook, with Brown as narrator. To date, Brown has authored numerous peer-reviewed articles and public-facing essays; and he has delivered nearly 100 invited talks nationally and internationally. Brown is on the Curatorial Team for Claudia Rankine’s The Racial Imaginary Institute, which he joined after being awarded a prestigious Mellon-ACLS Scholars and Society Fellowship in 2021. He currently serves as Development Associate and Scholar-in-Residence for the American Globe Center and he sits on the Editorial Boards of Shakespeare Survey and Shakespeare Bulletin. Additionally, he is a member of the American Shakespeare Center’s Board of Trustees and the Trinity College Alumni Association Executive Committee. In Fall 2024, Stratford-Upon-Avon, England’s Mayor Jason Fojtik—in collaboration with Rev. Dr. Paul Edmundson, Head of Research at The Shakespeare Birthplace Trust—appointed Dr. Brown as the inaugural Visiting Scholar for England’s 2025 Shakespeare Birthday Celebration🇬🇧
